These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the MediaBoxMC desktop application (the "App") and the website mediaboxmc.com (the "Website"), collectively referred to as the "Service", provided by Revolt.Inc ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the App, or by accessing the Website, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of the Service

MediaBoxMC is a desktop media center application for Windows 10 and Windows 11 that enables users to organize their own multimedia files into a structured library. The App scans user-designated folders, catalogs multimedia files, retrieves metadata from external sources (such as TMDB), and provides a unified interface for browsing and playing media using the MPV media player. All data is stored locally on the user's device.

3. License Model

The App is offered under a freemium model:

  • Free version: Provides core functionality with limited features. The free version may include advertisements in future releases.
  • Premium version: Unlocks all features and removes advertisements. Premium licenses may be purchased through the Microsoft Store (as an in-app purchase) or through the Website. Premium license terms are further described in the End User License Agreement (EULA).

4. User Content and Responsibility

This section is critically important. Please read it carefully:

  • MediaBoxMC is a tool designed to help users organize and manage their own multimedia files. The App functions similarly to a file manager or media library organizer.
  • The App does not provide, distribute, host, stream, or make available any multimedia content whatsoever. The App contains no built-in content.
  • You are solely and entirely responsible for ensuring that all files you add to your MediaBoxMC library are legally obtained and that you have the legal right to possess and play them in your jurisdiction.
  • You must comply with all applicable copyright laws, intellectual property rights, and content licensing agreements in your jurisdiction when using the App.
  • Revolt.Inc does not promote, encourage, facilitate, or condone piracy, copyright infringement, or any other illegal activity in any way.
  • Revolt.Inc has no knowledge of, access to, or control over the files you choose to add to your library. The App does not inspect, analyze, or report the content of your files.
  • Revolt.Inc shall not be held liable for any unauthorized or illegal use of the App by users.

5. Permitted Use

You may use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes in compliance with these Terms and all applicable local, national, and international laws and regulations. You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of, restrict, or inhibit anyone else's use of the Service.

6. Restrictions

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the App, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law.
  • Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works based on the App.
  • Distribute, sublicense, lease, rent, loan, or otherwise transfer the App or any license to third parties without our prior written consent.
  • Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices, labels, or marks on the App.
  • Use the App for any illegal purpose, including but not limited to copyright infringement or piracy.
  • Use the App in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Service or interfere with any other party's use of the Service.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any systems or networks connected to the Service.
  • Use the App to distribute malware, viruses, or other harmful software.

7. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, user interface, graphics, logos, and the MediaBoxMC brand name, is the intellectual property of Revolt.Inc and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved by Revolt.Inc. The MediaBoxMC name, logo, and all related names, logos, product and service names, designs, and slogans are trademarks of Revolt.Inc. You may not use such marks without our prior written permission.

8. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with or utilizes the following third-party services:

  • The Movie Database (TMDB): The App uses the TMDB API to retrieve metadata for multimedia files. You are required to provide your own TMDB API key, and your use of the TMDB API is subject to TMDB's own Terms of Use (available at themoviedb.org). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
  • MPV Media Player: The App uses MPV as an external media player process. MPV is licensed under GPL-2.0-or-later and is distributed separately from the App.
  • OpenSubtitles (planned): Future versions may integrate with OpenSubtitles for subtitle retrieval, subject to OpenSubtitles' terms of service.

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content provided by third-party services, and your use of such services is at your own risk and subject to their respective terms.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
  • Revolt.Inc shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Service.
  • Revolt.Inc shall not be liable for any damage to your files, media library, or device arising from the use of the App.
  • In no event shall Revolt.Inc's total aggregate liability exceed the amount you have paid for the App in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

10. Service Availability

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the App or Website. The Service may be subject to delays, interruptions, or errors. We do not provide any service level agreement (SLA) and reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without prior notice or liability.

11. Modifications to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through a notice in the App and/or on the Website at least thirty (30) days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you must stop using the Service.

12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Italian Republic, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Italy. If you are a consumer residing in the European Union, you may also benefit from any mandatory provisions of the consumer protection laws of your country of residence.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining provisions, which shall continue in full force and effect.
